Application is ongoing for the Postdoc Microbiology position in Bacteria Pathogenesis and host-microbe interactions in the gut. The Weill Cornell Medicine research project is a joint collaboration of Cubillos-Ruiz and Morales Labs at New York City.
The successful Postdoctoral research candidate will lead the Interdisciplinary project with guide and support from the collaborating labs.
About The Postdoc Microbiology Project
The research project at Weill Cornell Medicine focuses to address the challenges in bacteria pathogenesis, immune modulation, and gut homeostasis. As such, gaining in-depth understanding of the Enterococcus faecalis colonization in the intestine. Also, its mechanisms of translocation to systemic organs.
The Postdoc Microbiology researcher working in the collaborating labs will play diverse vital roles to ensure the overall success. The Morales Lab will focus on researching molecular pathways that enables the change of E. Faecalis (commensal) to pathogen.
The Cubillos-Ruiz Lab investigates the cellular stress responses and their function in immunity and disease. With the end that both labs will find out how the bacteria community exploitation of host pathways breaches intestinal barrier.
Responsibilities of the Postdoc Researcher
The Postdoc Microbiology researcher leading this project have the following responsibilities
- Study host Pathogen interactions
- Study bacteria translocation Mechanisms
- Contribute to pioneering work in bacteria physiology
As an innovative research project, there will be application of both Vivo and in vitro models, molecular biology and immunology techniques, and cutting edge imaging.
Requirements For The Postdoc Microbiology Position

- Have excellent communication skills
How To Apply
Candidates for the Postdoctoral research Fellow at Weill Cornell Medicine are to apply online. This involves sending a CV and cover letter to dim2018@med.cornell.edu.
The cover letter should highlight one’s research experience and interests alongside the contact information of three professional references. Applications will receive due consideration regardless of the applicant’s background.

About Weill Cornell Medicine
Weill Cornell Medicine is an offshoot of the University of Cornell focusing on education and research in medicine. The institution is the medical arm of the Cornell University which offers medical and graduate studies via the Weill Cornell Medical College.
Weill Cornell Medicine liaises with diverse institutions around the world to deliver quality medical education that focuses on patient care. Though with low acceptance rate, the medical college continues to set the pace with its nation-wide recognitions and rankings.
One can apply for admission into Weill Cornell Medical college through the US AAMC’s centralized medical school application processing service.
About Cubillos-Ruiz Lab
The Cubillos-Ruiz Lab has its location at the Weill Cornell Medicine. With its focus on researching on the effect of sensing of organelle stress in molecular pathways direct the immune system in inflammation, cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmunity.
About Morales Lab
The Diana K Morales Lab focuses on metabolic and molecular programs that supports non-motile pathobionts penetration of surfaces, spread leading to diseases.
