    About Climate Resilience Lab

The Climate Resilience Lab executes mission-driven research programs to solve diverse challenges associated with climate change.

The research initiative and activities range from evaluating the risks associated with extreme weather conditions to developing holistic planning and management approaches that can adjust to a changing environment and anthropogenic landscape transformations to improve climate resilience. The adverse weather conditions include heat waves, floods, rainstorms and droughts.

The Resilience Lab has its location at the University of Florida (UF) Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE). The lab has affliation with the Center for Land Use Efficiency (CLUE) within the premises of Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS).

Dr. Najibi’s Research Group of the Climate Resilience Lab works on improving traditional perspectives with focus on three key areas. This includes

    • Gain insight into the climate risks associated with hydroclimate extremes in built and other natural environments
    • Promote climate resilience in response to environmental risks in infrastructure systems and ecosystems through the application of decision analytics and adoption of stochastic models
    • Assess the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to extreme climate conditions. The infrastructure sector include energy, dams, food/agriculture, transportation, emergency services, water/wastewater, financial services, and healthcare/public health systems) Applying process-based insights alongside ensemble-based frameworks
